A4 and US Letter are different sizes
| Paper | Millimeters | Inches | Wordnest layout |
|---|---|---|---|
| A4 | 210 × 297 | About 8.27 × 11.69 | Portrait, with its own pagination budget. |
| US Letter | 215.9 × 279.4 | 8.5 × 11 | Portrait, with a shorter page-height budget. |
Letter is wider and shorter than A4. Selecting it in Wordnest updates the preview dimensions and recalculates pagination; it does not simply squeeze an A4 page into another shape. The choice applies to practice sheets, flashcards, matching games, and five-day packs.
Use this print checklist
- Choose A4 or US Letter beside the preview.
- Review the page count and decide whether to select Include answer key.
- Choose the activity's Print button to open your browser's print dialog.
- Select the same paper size, portrait orientation, and 100% or actual-size scaling.
- Turn off browser headers and footers. Names such as “Scale” and “More settings” vary by browser and operating system.
- Review the print dialog's pages, then print one test sheet before making multiple copies.
Wordnest reserves margins inside each page. A printer can still have its own non-printable edge or driver scaling rules. If the dialog appears to clip a page, recheck the actual paper loaded in the printer and the driver settings before changing the worksheet.
Save a PDF and choose which answers print
Choose Save as PDF, Microsoft Print to PDF, or the equivalent PDF option available in your browser or system dialog. Wordnest uses the browser's printing system; it does not upload your words to a PDF server.
The Answer key preview tab only changes what you are viewing. The Include answer key checkbox controls whether separate key pages are appended to the printout. For Flashcards, that checkbox is disabled because every card already includes its clue.
A PDF preserves the printable pages, not an editable word list. Download a JSON backup as well if you want to change the words or layout later.
If the result looks different from the preview
- Unexpected page count: confirm the activity, selected weekly pack, paper size, and answer-key checkbox.
- Tiny or enlarged content: compare 100% scaling with the printer driver's fit-to-page option. Avoid applying scaling twice.
- Missing or different Chinese glyphs: preview on a device with suitable Chinese fonts. Wordnest uses installed system fonts.
- Text or a URL at the paper edge: turn off the browser's headers and footers.
- Cards do not line up for duplex printing: use normal one-sided printing and fold the cards. Their layout is not a duplex template.
The current layouts were checked with Chromium PDF output on macOS. Other browsers, operating systems, and physical printers can differ. Preview a saved PDF and a test print when accuracy matters.
Questions parents ask
Does selecting US Letter just shrink an A4 page?
No. Wordnest sets Letter dimensions and uses a separate page-height budget to lay out the content. Match that choice in the print dialog.
Will the website navigation appear in the PDF?
The application and navigation are hidden when printing a worksheet. Only the generated activity pages and any selected answer pages are printed.
